| 内容記述 | This study examines how cultural and educational factors influence English proficiency among Junior High School students in Japan and compares this with Belgium. Belgian students, more specifically those living in Flanders, benefit from daily exposure to English through undubbed media and multilingual interactions, whereas Japanese students have limited English usage outside the classroom. Our findings indicate that Japanese students face challenges such as low exposure to spoken English, insufficient communicative teaching strategies, and unengaging homework. This study underscores the importance of homework that enhances pragmatic competence and creates authentic English use scenarios. Results suggest that consistent daily use of English and a variety of activities in English significantly improve proficiency levels among Japanese students. | |||||||||||||
