Subjects were 80 first year students in the School of Nursing at A University. Forty six (57.5%) valid responses, i.e., answer sheets without omissions, were obtained. Analysis of valid responses revealed that over 90% of students viewed discussion-based learning favorably. Students gave particularly high evaluations for \"independence\" which students experience in discussion-based learning. Evaluations were generally low with respect to \"exchange of opinions\", and students expressed such views as, \"discussion time is short\" and \"discussion content is difficult\".
